About Me

Hi! My name is Kat. What is yours? No, really. I would love to meet you! This website is how I introduce myself as an artist so please take a look around, check out a few galleries, and catch up on the blog — but don't forget to introduce yourself to me,  too! The images here are just a sample. My custom portrait experiences are full service and begin with a complimentary in-person consultation where I assist you in selecting the wardrobe and location for your photo session. The experience continues with a no-pressure viewing of your final images and an explanation of all the different sorts of amazing products you may choose to preserve your images. From archival art prints and custom holiday cards to heirloom display albums and stunning wall art collections, I offer quality products for every budget.

I developed my first roll of black and white film in a darkroom at just twelve years old. Yes, I actually learned on real film! I knew then that I wanted to be a photographer when I grew up. I took every photography class I could in high school and even attended outside workshops. I studied Art at Calvin College and I entertained the dream of traveling the world and photographing models for advertising campaigns. With that goal in mind, I attended and graduated from The Portfolio Center, Atlanta's distinguished school of photography, advertising and design.

But something happened along the way I was not expecting. I was photographing the people around me, working frantically for a portfolio that would help launch me into the advertising world, and the simple portraits I created kept surprising my classmates and teachers. They were surprising me, too. The way I saw the world, and viewed and loved my friends and family, was coming through with a shocking clarity. My portraits were capturing beauty, and it became evident that I was not really going to be an advertising photographer at all. I was a portrait artist, and I not only recognized the  beauty in every person I encountered, I could capture it.

Katherine McClure Photography is the result of all those years of training and image making. My full service business model reflects my personal values, too. I believe you should be able to ask questions and be prepared for the best session experience possible, so my in-person consultations are always complimentary. I believe you should have time to consider what you would like to purchase, so your viewing session is not a high pressure selling one. I believe you should have amazing product options that are guaranteed to last a lifetime, so I only partner with companies that offer the same guarantee. I believe every life is gorgeous, so I am genuinely thrilled to get to know each client!

I would love to meet you, so please introduce yourself to me here!

Check out Mollie's tips below, and we'll play at your next session, too!
