For Brides

I am thrilled you've found your way here!  Choosing a wedding photographer can be completely overwhelming!  So to help, I've included some of the best questions for you to ask yourself to help you choose.  I'm not one-size-fits-all, but I may be just the right fit for you :-)

I hope the information below helps you see that even though there are many wedding photographers to choose from, a few good questions will help make sure you are hiring a professional.  Once you've found a few professionals, it is much easier to choose the personality and style that work best with you!

Once you've read through, use the menu above to guide you through sample images, album designs and investing in your wedding day imagery.  Each gallery is from a single wedding, and is not a mixture from multiple events. It is very important to see the quality level across the entire event.  Links to complete wedding websites, with all images delivered to the client, are available upon request.

Do I really need to know my photographer's personality?

Yes!  You will spend more time with them than anyone else on one of the most important days of your life.  Some are bubbly, some are reserved, some are not experienced enough and will be completely stressed out and overwhelmed and could quite possibly ruin your day just by their attitude, even if they manage to work their cameras. I'm not any of those.  I do smile and laugh easily and I have over 8 years of professional photography experience to back up my level of confidence.  I'll iron a shirt for you if that's what needs to be done right then to make your day perfect.  I've helped pin broken zippers, wiped away tears and found the lost lip gloss, because those were the things that mattered most right then, and my job is way more than just photography.  It's helping make sure your day is perfect!

Does the lowest package mean everyone will keep their eyes on the clock instead of the bride?
If the lower price means you get less than "full coverage," how can you be sure that the photographer will cover the moments and scenes most important to you?  Since treasured times can be unpredictable and unexpected, every package I offer maintains the highest level of quality in time, talent and service.  Only the products you choose change with each level.  I will never lower my quality of service!

How much do I need to spend?

I suggest you spend enough so that you have no regrets.  You need to invest in great images of you on your wedding day because only your images (and possibly video) will remain long after the cake is eaten and the last dance is finished.  Your album really will be passed on from generation to generation.

Does their 'style' really matter?

Professional photographers carefully choose their equipment, lenses and lighting to create a style, or look.  If you choose a photographer who uses a super wide angle lens most of the time, the images of your venue may be exciting, but most bridal portraits with that lens will not be flattering to the couple.  Personally, I wouldn't care how great the composition of an image was if it made me look bad!  My style really is classic, so it allows your style and beauty to shine.  My style won't overpower yours, it will only enhance it!

Aren't all wedding photographers professional?

There are many things that determine professionalism in wedding photography, from equipment and knowledge, to attitude and flexibility.  Professional photography equipment is more than just a DSLR.  It includes adequate memory, creative lighting solutions, and the knowledge of when to use what.  That knowledge may have been learned in school, by assisting other photographers or by continuing their education with seminars and classes. A professional photographer should always be calm and relaxed, so that the bride and groom stay calm and relaxed, and have an assistant who can handle any possible problems quietly.   A professional has a plan, but remains flexible throughout the day.  A bridal consultation can help you determine the level of professionalism a photographer exhibits, so make sure you meet them in person!
